The Ayenda Foundation has partnered with the Bayat Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to helping Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations, to build the Bamiyan learning center and orphanage. This facility will simultaneously provide two necessities crucial for a child’s growth and development—education and shelter.
Located in one of the poorest rural areas in Afghanistan, and home to the historically disadvantaged Hazara minority, Bamiyan is greatly in need of additional development and investment. Last October Ayenda founder Shamim Jawad met with Bamiyan Governor Mrs. Habiba Sarabi.
Governor Sarabi explained that the province’s priority was an orphanage, as the current orphanage was housed in a dilapidated and unsanitary building. This project will support the efforts of Mrs. Sarabi, Afghanistan’s only female governor, who is working tirelessly to rebuild her province.
