06.01.2011 – On June 1, 2011, Shamim Jawad, founder of the Ayenda Foundation, inaugurated the computer lab at the Ayenda Learning Center in Bamiyan, Afghanistan. On a beautiful, sunny day, surrounded by excited children brimming with curiosity, the inauguration ceremony was attended by the governor of Bamiyan, Ms. Habiba Sarabi, the former Afghan Ambassador to the United States, Said T. Jawad, and Mrs. Leslie Schweitzer, Senior Trade Advisor at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in addition to a number of distinguished Afghan and international guests. Connected to the Internet through satellite, the new Dell computers are a bright window of connectivity for the poor and inquisitive children of the isolated Bamiyan province. After the jubilant ceremony, Mrs. Jawad and guests distributed school supplies for the deprived children of remote Bamiyan.
